A destination worth the flight.
Valencia's warm-Mediterranean setup gives it milder winters than Barcelona and less humid summers than Seville. Eleven complete years (2015-2025) show January averaging 11C with orange-grove harvests still active in the Turia's southern outskirts, July peaking at 26C with sea-breeze relief along Malvarrosa beach. Rainfall stays under 500 mm annually — one of Spain's driest coastal cities.
April, May, and October form the strongest window. Fallas week (March 15-19) is the calendar peak with ninot-burning ceremonies drawing 2 million visitors, but April right after is when Valencia settles at 18C with post-festival calm and jacaranda blooms along Colon Street. May sits at 21C with Malvarrosa opening for early swimming, and October holds 21C with paella-country day trips to Albufera.
July and August are the months to skip if you can't tolerate 26-30C highs and coastal humidity spikes. Beach crowds triple during Spanish national holidays, and Ruzafa terraces stay full past midnight in a way that makes early nights impossible. Locals leave for the mountains.
For 2026, book Fallas week (March 15-19) by December 2025 — hotel rates triple. October remains the year's best value for beach plus Ciutat de les Arts access.
