§ I
A destination worth the flight.

San Diego offers excellent weather year-round, but April through May and September through October stand out as the best months to visit in 2026. During these periods, temperatures hover between 18–24°C (64–75°F), with moderate sunshine and minimal rainfall. Spring brings wildflower blooms and comfortable conditions for outdoor exploration, while fall offers warm days without summer crowds. These shoulder seasons provide the ideal balance of pleasant weather and fewer tourists.

April and May deliver mild temperatures and occasional rainfall that keeps landscapes green, averaging around 10–15mm monthly. September and October maintain warm conditions with temperatures reaching 20–23°C (68–73°F) and significantly less precipitation. Both periods enjoy 8–9 hours of daily sunshine, perfect for beach days, hiking, and sightseeing. Summer months (June–August) can exceed 26°C (79°F) with intense sun, while winter (December–February) remains mild at 13–18°C (55–64°F) but brings occasional rain.

Avoid visiting during late November through early March if you prefer guaranteed sunshine, as this period sees the highest rainfall and cloudier skies. While San Diego rarely experiences severe weather, winter months receive around 30–40mm of rain spread across several days. Summer, conversely, brings crowds and higher accommodation costs despite reliably sunny skies. For the most pleasant experience in 2026, prioritize April–May or September–October.
