Each month in that winter window feels different, though. November is still warm enough to lounge by the pool without looking ridiculous, and the summer crowds have finally cleared out — hotel rates drop, restaurants aren't packed, and you can actually get a reservation somewhere decent. December through February is peak season for a reason: it's pure desert sun with zero humidity, the light is that crystalline quality that makes photographers lose their minds, and yes, it's crowded and pricey, but only because it's genuinely perfect. March is the sweet spot if you hate crowds but still want reliable weather — you get the sunshine without fighting for a spot at Pappy & Harriet's, and wildflower season is just ramping up in the surrounding desert. April is the tail end; temperatures creep toward 30°C (86°F) by late month, but it's still manageable and prices start dropping again.

Avoid May through September entirely. June and July are the worst offenders — the heat is so extreme that locals basically vanish indoors, outdoor attractions cut hours, and you'll spend your vacation sweating in air-conditioned lobbies. August is marginally better but still 42–45°C (108–113°F). October is the transitional awkward zone — it's still 35–38°C (95–100°F) during the day, just hot enough to be unpleasant without being interesting. September through November also brings the rare but brutal desert monsoon possibility, which can mean dust storms and flash floods that catch people completely off guard.
