A destination worth the flight.
Naples has one of the Mediterranean's most stable coastal climates. Eleven complete years (2015-2025) show January averaging 9C with the year's steadiest weather across Spaccanapoli, July at 25C with heavy humidity and sea-breeze relief only along Chiaia. Rainfall concentrates in autumn — October and November average 14 rain days each.
May, June, and October are the strongest months. May averages 18C with Capri and Procida day-ferry weather already established, June brings 22C with Naples' pizza culture at full expression before the summer tour-group peak, and October holds 20C with fewer cruise-ship days and Amalfi coast still swimmable through mid-month. Presepio Christmas markets on Via San Gregorio Armeno run November through early January — Naples' other calendar peak.
August is the month locals leave. Ferragosto (August 15) empties half the pizzerias, and family-run alimentari close for two to three weeks. July is nearly as difficult with 25-30C heat pressing against Spaccanapoli's shade-free stretches and Vesuvius day-tour buses clogging the ring road.
For 2026, book May by January — Capri hydrofoil schedules fill first among Campania day trips. October remains the year's best value for combined city, Pompeii, and Amalfi access before winter closures.
Naples, four ways.

Estimated round-trip fares from London, based on a 7-day stay. Rule-of-thumb pricing — the cheapest windows tend to be the shoulder months, so a shift of a fortnight can pay for a hotel.
