A destination worth the flight.
Brussels sits in Europe's classic drizzle belt. Eleven complete years (2015-2025) show January averaging 3C with fog most mornings, July at 19C with the year's briefest rain gaps, and rainfall spread evenly across all 12 months rather than concentrated in one season. There's no true dry season — just less-wet windows.
May, June, and September carry the strongest Grand Place terrace weather. May averages 14C with the fewest rain days of any month, June holds 17C with long evenings for A la Mort Subite terraces, and September delivers 16C with autumn light hitting Sablon antique markets. These are also the months when Cantillon lambic brewery runs its most active production tours.
January is Brussels at its greyest — 3C, 9 rain days, and Grand Place empty after the Christmas market closes on January 3. November is nearly as bad with 5C, constant drizzle, and half the Ixelles galleries shuttered for renovation. Grand Place Christmas market (late November to December) is genuinely worth the trip, but everything on either side isn't.
